Computer Science & Engineering
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering trains future educators, researchers and engineers through an intensely personal engagement in a set of research activities that span the development of fundamental knowledge about computational processes, the design of new computing systems and methods, and the creation of novel applications that benefit society at large. In 2007, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Civil Engineering joined together to create one department - the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace & Structural Engineering - with the goal of offering a coherent set of programs that build on the shared intellectual interests of the faculty in biotechnology, energy, and materials science. Research in this department is leading to innovative solutions in new frontiers in sustainable structures, advanced aerospace technology and nanostructured materials.
