Steve Boriss
Associate Director, CAIT
My career background includes business management, marketing, advertising, public relations, consulting, and teaching at University College ("The Future of News"). I have worked for Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Fleishman-Hillard, and on my own.
My educational background includes B.A. University of Rochester and M.B.A. University of Michigan.
If I pursed another degree, I would study economics or history.
My role in the School of Engineering is to help maintain and build enrollments in continuing education programs, develop new programs and classes, and help to ensure programs are financially sound.
My advice for current WU students is to remember the best use of your time now is to reflect on what you are really passionate about and try to build your academic and career plans around it.
My family includes my wife Carol, one daughter in graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University studying Human Computer Interaction and another daughter at Indiana University-Bloomington studying psychology and creative writing.
I've traveled to the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, other places in Europe and Canada.
What inspires you? These days I've taken an interest in how technology is changing the nature of news, leading it toward a multitude of voices competing in a freewheeling marketplace of ideas. This is very good "news" for individual freedom, dignity, well-being, and happiness throughout the world. I am doing my very small part to guide its evolution through my blog at www.thefutureofnews.com.
