EnCouncil President's Welcome

Dear Engineering students, faculty and staff:

Welcome back to a new school year. We look forward to a year filled with many old traditions interspersed with new additions, and we hope you will join us at upcoming Engineering events and take advantage of all the services that our school has to offer.

In the fall semester, EnCouncil is excited to introduce the new incarnation of Discussions with the Dean. There will be two discussions in the fall, focusing on two separate topics that are of interest to students. We strongly encourage you to attend these meetings, so that you can stay up-to-date and involved with the changes in the School.

Papa John's Pizza will return to Cheap Lunch after a four year hiatus. Cheap Lunch will continue in Lopata Gallery every Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., starting September 12.

Cheap Lunch cost details:
$2 for 2 slices of pizza, a soda and unlimited chips and cookies or 2 additional pieces of pizza are available with the $3 meal.

Vertigo returns November 17. I am sure that this year's dance will continue the upward trend that has been apparent in the last four years I've been involved. More information will be available as the semester continues.

If you want to get involved with Vertigo, or any other of our events, please contact us at encouncil@cec.wustl.edu or attend the EnCouncil meeting on Thursday, September 6 at 8:45 p.m.

By working more closely with other engineering student groups, we hope to make it easier than ever to get involved in the engineering community. The key to this is going to be "involved as you want to be." If you are just interested in attending an Engineering Without Borders community service project, or a pick-up game of Nerf Gun Capture the Flag, you are just as welcome at those individual events as someone else who may want to run Vertigo. Get involved and participate in the events that interest you, without the pressure of feeling that you have to do everything else also.

Good luck with your classes, research, and all other pursuits in the upcoming year. I hope to see you at events as the semester progresses.
