Abe Cross hired to lead the Engineering Alumni & Development Office
Abe Cross will join the Engineering staff as the Senior Director of Development for the School of Engineering. Abe is currently the Director of Advancement for the Purdue University College of Technology. In that capacity, Abe has been responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and management for fundraising operations and serves on the dean's cabinet. Abe has actively overseen a $98.2 million, 7-year fundraising campaign for the College which has now surpassed its goal and stands at $115.5 million. A Florida native, Abe received his degree from the University of Tampa.

Former Engineering National Council Member Passes Away
Charles A. Lebens, a pioneer in delivering investment information electronically to financial institutions, and a past member of the Engineering School's National Council, died of a stroke Jan. 10, 2008, at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 72.
Charles founded Bridge Data Co. in 1975. In the next two decades, Bridge became an industry leader in the delivery of securities information electronically. Bridge was the first to introduce charts of financial data on CRT terminals, which allowed institutions to analyze vast databases of financial statistics. The company was sold in 1995.
A St. Louis native, he graduated from Washington University in 1957 and served on the National Council for Washington University's School of Engineering from 1992 - 2007, receiving the university's Alumni Achievement Award in 1994, and Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000.
