Sandra Devereaux
Administrative Aide, Electrical & Systems Engineering
My family and church keep me busy. I've been married for 36 years and have two sons.
On Fridays, we leave town right after work. We have a home by the water at Lake of the Ozarks. It's a three hour drive and we go there to relax.
To me, a relaxing weekend by the water feels like a week of vacation.
My job varies daily and I love it. I love this campus. I enjoy walking on campus. Rita Drochelman, Patty Wurm, and I lift weights at the athletic complex three times a week.
I like to help and bless others by giving. If I had a million dollars, I would give most of it away. I dream of that.
I've traveled to Costa Rica and Haiti on mission trips. I was in Haiti for five days. We visited and assisted at the hospital, orphanage, and clinic. The experience was so rewarding but also sad to see the amount of suffering and lack of medical supplies.
When I went to Haiti, I got a taste of what it is like to be in a foreign country and not know where to go or how to get there.
I think it's amazing when students come to Washington University from abroad and do so well here.
I get to see students so often that when they graduate, I cry. Some students come back to visit us and keep in touch by e-mail.
