Ron Laue
Director of the Freshman Experience
My career background in higher education includes work in various areas of student services including Residential Life, Greek Life, Student Union, and Academic Support Services.
I earned a B.A. at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; a M.A. at the University of Colorado; and a Ph.D. at the University of Missouri.
If I pursued another degree, I would study horticulture and cooking.
Every day, I provide support and initiatives which influence the social and academic success of our students, with particular attention to the transition into college life of our first-year students.
I always say, "collect memories, not trinkets" and "the best things in life are not things."
At home, my family includes my wife Laura (of 10 years!), and two kids, Kate and Josh.
I've traveled to Europe, Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and remote places in the United States. For me, the more remote, the better! My idea weekend would be hiking and relaxing in the Rocky Mountains.
Washington University's greatest resource is the energy and motivation of the undergraduates who inspire me with their creative and thoughtful ideas of ways to improve our campus, community, and world.
