Commencement Information for Engineering Students
Engineering students should wear caps and gowns to the ceremonies listed below. The tassel color for engineering degrees is orange and the tassel color for engineering Ph.D. degrees is royal blue.
Undergraduate Engineering Student Recognition Ceremony
• Undergraduate students receive individual recognition at this event by having their names called as they walk across the stage
• B.S./M.S. students can attend this ceremony.
• Ceremony Begins: Thursday, May 20, 2010, 2 p.m., Field House, Athletic Complex.
• Students should arrive for line-up before 1:30 p.m. in Francis Gym.
• Upon arrival for line-up, students should obtain a name card and complete the information requested on the back.
• A reception will follow in specified department locations:
- Biomedical Engineering students in Whittaker Hall
- Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Systems Engineering, Physics and IM students outside in Lopata Plaza
(between Cupples II Hall and Bryan Hall).
- Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering; Mechanical, Aerospace & Structural Engineering, Physics and IM students outside in front of Lopata Hall and behind Sever Hall
All-University Commencement Ceremony
• Ceremony Begins: Friday, May 21, 2010, 8:30 a.m., Brookings Quadrangle.
• Students should arrive for line-up at 8 a.m. next to Louderman Hall.
• Engineering Ph.D. students should assemble with the Graduate School at 8 a.m. next to Wilson Hall.
• All graduate students should carry (not wear) their hoods during this ceremony.
• It's a good idea to have a pre-arranged meeting location to meet with your guests after this ceremony ends.
• A reception will follow at the School of Engineering around Lopata Hall.
Diplomas for undergraduate and graduate students will be distributed after the ceremony until noon in Engineering Student Services (Lopata Hall, Room 303).
Graduate Engineering Student Recognition Ceremony
• Graduate students receive individual recognition at this event by having their names called as they walk across the stage.
• B.S./M.S. students can attend this ceremony.
• Ceremony Begins: Friday, May 21, 2010, 2 p.m., Edison Theatre.
• Students should arrive for line-up before 1:30 p.m. in the upper-level of Mallinckrodt Center, next to Bank of America.
• Upon arrival for line-up, students should obtain a name card and complete the information requested on the back.
• Ph.D. and D.Sc. students should arrive carrying their hoods; master's students should wear their hoods during the ceremony.
• A reception will follow at the School of Engineering around Lopata Hall.
Diploma Distribution: Diplomas for undergraduate and graduate students will be distributed in Engineering Student Services (Lopata Hall, Room 303) immediately following the All-University Commencement Ceremony on Friday morning. After noon on Friday, diplomas may be picked up at the Office of Student Records (located in the lower level of the Women's Building), during normal office hours. Diplomas not picked-up by the end of May will be mailed to students in June.
