Computer, Recommended
Many students ask whether they need to purchase their own computers. The answer is no, the School provides all computing resources required. However, many students still like the convenience of having their own computer in their room, and even a modestly priced computer can handle your word processing needs. All of the residence hall rooms have high-speed connections to the campus-wide network and the Internet, allowing you to access the many network-based resources from your own personal computer. For information on these connections and the required hardware please check: http://restech.wustl.edu/services/data.php.
If you are interested in advice on purchasing a new system, look at PC Magazine’s website at http://www.pcmag.com,
This website has many helpful tables of comparisons of various machines.
The CEC staff is available to aid in determining your needs and selecting the right computer. If you already have a computer or would like more information prior to arriving, feel free to contact Brian Sheffield at (314) 935-6024 or Kay Komotos at (314) 935-4540.
