Full-Time & Part-Time Enrollment for Undergraduate Engineering Students

School of Engineering & Applied Science undergraduate programs are considered to be full-time degree programs.

Part-time enrollment status is not allowed unless serious health issues prevent a student from being enrolled full-time.

Part-time enrollment and partial tuition charges are allowed for engineering seniors who need to spend an extra semester enrolled at Washington University. For students who enter as freshmen, this status could first begin in their 9th semester of enrollment. For students who enter as Dual Degree (3-2) Program transfer students, this status could first begin in their 5th semester of enrollment.  Students who qualify for part-time enrollment are allowed to take a part-time load (1 to 11 units) and be charged the part-time tuition rate for the number of units enrolled. These students pay the student activity fee and the health insurance fee, and are still covered under Washington U. health insurance plan. Normally, scholarship support is not available for students enrolled part-time.
