For students entering fall 2013

Students in the School of Engineering & Applied Science are given advanced placement in courses based upon the exam scores listed below. The maximum number of general elective credit units that can count toward a Bachelor's degree is 15. No humanities or social sciences credit is awarded for AP results.

Special Note for Engineering Freshmen: Students with an AP Chemistry score of 5 may petition the Engineering Student Services Office for "proficiency" credit for Chem 111A, 112A, 151, and 152.

Physics majors and students interested in advanced treatment of introductory physics should enroll in Physics 197 in the Fall semester, followed by Physics 198 in the Spring semester. Students may not enroll in Physics 198 without first taking Physics 197.

Students who require calculus-based physics for course or major requirements should enroll in Physics 117A or Physics 197 in the fall semester.
