31 Deadline for engineering Master's & D.Sc. students to submit theses/dissertations for format approval for Summer 2012 graduation.
NOTE: Engineering-based Ph.D. students follow GSAS rules & have NO format approval deadline.

August 2012
3 Summer session III ends
Last day to file "Intent to Graduate" form for Summer 2012 graduation (per central Office of Student Records; engineering students should file by June 29, but that is often extended to coincide with OSR's date)
6 1st day to begin entering "intent to graduate" for Spring/May 2013 graduation (Fall/December 2012 "intents" can also still be filed)
16 Summer session IV ends
Degree date of August 16, 2012 for Summer/August graduates
17 Due date for departments to submit ALL "final program" paperwork for master and D.Sc. Summer graduates
NOTE: Engineering-based Ph.D. student paperwork should be submitted per GSAS deadlines.
20 Tuition payment due to Accounts Receivable by 4pm for Fall 2012 (Engineering graduate level student payment due in October)
28 First day of Fall semester classes

September 2012
3 Labor Day Holiday (No classes)
4 Deadline for graduate students to submit theses/dissertations in final form for Summer 2012 graduation.
NOTE: Engineering-based Ph.D. students share this same deadline.
7 Deadline for unregistered engineering Master's & D.Sc. students to submit theses/dissertations for format approval for December 2012 graduation. NOTE: Engineering-based Ph.D. students follow GSAS rules & have NO format approval deadline.
11 Last day to add, wait, or change sections for Fall 2012 courses
12 Last day to drop a Fall 2012 course with no notation on permanent record
13 All "drops" will be assigned a "W" (i.e. a "withdrawal grade") from this point forward
14 Wait List period ends. All prior wait lists will be deleted.
17 Last day to change a Fall 2012 course grade option from a credit/letter-grade to "P" or "A" (i.e. pass/fail or audit)
Last day for unregistered graduate students to complete ALL degree requirements and submit theses or dissertations in final form for December 2012 graduation (i.e. without having to register for classes; any students unable to meet this deadline will have to register for the Fall semester, paying additional late fees if they are not registered by end of 2nd week of classes.) NOTE: Engineering-based Ph.D. students follow GSAS rules and may have an extra week.

13 Final exams begin for Engineering students
19 Final exam period ends for Engineering students
