Engineering Mentor Program Kickoff

6:00 PM

Whitaker Hall Atrium

The Engineering Mentor Program will match Washington University Engineering alumni with current students from the Classes of 2013 and 2014. The Program's objective is that alumni mentors provide one source of informal feedback, guidance, and support to students as they formulate plans to launch their own careers.

It is important for Alumni Mentors and Student Mentees to attend these events when at all possible. That is especially true for the first event of the year on Oct. 16.

Engineering Mentor Kick-Off
Tuesday, Oct. 16, 6-8 p.m., Whitaker Hall Atrium

Networking Reception & Roundtable
Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, 6-8 p.m., Danforth University Center

Mentor Appreciation & Program Wrap-up
April 2013, date to be determined.

Other Contact
Usually alumni mentors and the student mentee set up phone calls or one or two visits on their own, in addition to the program-wide events. Purposes might include:

Mock Interview.
Tour or job shadow at Mentor's place of work.
Resume Review.

Alumni Sign Up Process
Please click the link below to provide background information and reply to a few questions to help us match you with a student according to mutual interests. This survey should be answered no later than Monday, Oct. 1. We will be back in touch no later than Oct. 14 as to the student match.

Complete the Mentor Program Participation Form.

The best possible match will be made on the basis of student and alumni engineering fields and career interests. Alumni and students should be aware that it may not be possible in all cases to match an alum in a given field with a student from the corresponding engineering major. This is true in particular for alumni in civil engineering. However, every effort will be made to bring together alumni experience and student interests in a way that is fruitful for both participants.
