  • 3 Letters of Recommendation

Student applicant inputs recommendation provider's name and email address. Recommendation providers are then automatically sent an email requesting their recommendation. Paper and email recommendations are not acceptable.
  • Statement of Purpose and Resume/CV

Required for all applicants - please upload into the application a brief document (3 pages maximum) explaining your goals and ambitions. We ask that all applicants also include a resume/Curriculum Vitae immediately following the satement in the "additional information" section.
  • GRE Scores

Please use institution code 6172. GRE scores are required for all doctoral applications and are highly recommended for full-time master's applicants. Applicants should upload an unofficial copy (screenshot or scan) of their scores in the application for evaluation purposes. Official scores from ETS are required if admitted.
  • TOEFL or IELTS Scores

Required for all international applicants. Use institution code 6929 for requesting electronic TOEFL score reports; for IELTS, hard copies from the IELTS testing service will need to be requested and sent to the Washington University address listed above. Applicants should upload a scanned copy of their scores in the application for initial evaluation purposes. Official electronic scores from ETS are to be sent only after an applicant is admitted. Sending scores sent earlier can save international students time later on when preparing travel documents. This is also true with regards to the TOEFL score report. Previous TOEFL/IELTS scores may be used for evaluation purposes for students whose scores are waived. Note: This requirement will be waived if the applicant will have graduated from a four-year degree program in an English-speaking institution, in a country where English is the primary language of daily living.
