WashU Engineering has partnered with the National Park Service at the Gateway Arch. Three engineering schools in the area (WashU, SIUE, and Southwestern Illinois College) have been invited to help solve a real program that vexes the Arch Tram Service (ATS) staff at the St. Louis Arch. This is the tram that takes visitors to the top of the Arch. In short, the open Bus-Bar system that supplies electricity to the trams is not working properly. Each team will be asked to design something that makes it safe and OSHA approved.
Due to room constraints in the St. Louis Arch, the teams are limited to no more than 6-10 students. First come first serve. Only students in the School of Engineering & Applied Science can participate. Contact Ron Laue to register.
