From WUTE: "Our second miniature hackathon of the year is taking place on Friday, December 1st, from 5-10pm in the Skandalaris Center. We will be providing free pizza, and our first and second place winners will receive $200 and $100 in Amazon gift cards. Our prompts this month focus on problems in the environment. You will have a few hours to choose a prompt, brainstorm and develop a product, and present your concept to our panel of judges. Venture analysts from the Skandalaris Center will be attending the event to help you refine your ideas. No experience is necessary to enter. You can work on any environmental problem of your choosing, but here are some potential ones to get you started:

  • Minimizing fertilizer runoff
  • Reducing the carbon footprint of urban centers
  • Software that helps people share resources (like uberPOOL)

  • Reducing fossil fuel consumption
  • Reduce waste related to the food industry
  • Improve access to fresh water via desalination, etc.
  • Choose a product and devise a way for it to last longer or produce less waste

If you are interested, fill out our RSVP form at tinyurl.com/wutehacks. If you don't have a team don't worry! We can place you into one at the event. Hope to see you there!"
