IT Assistance for Engineering First-Year Students

Engineering IT provides technical support for academic, research, and administrative computing services to the McKelvey School of Engineering. Our resources include computer‐aided teaching classrooms, laptops, software, and consulting services via the EIT Helpdesk.
If you are registered for an Engineering class, your WUSTL Key provides access to the Engineering computer labs
below.

There are computer labs for most classes that require them, but there will be instances when your laptop may
be required. Therefore, we recommend all students obtain a laptop. The University is a Dell Preferred customer,
but any brand will do. Please visit www.Dell.com/wustl (School of Engineering) for student discounted rates
and options. For questions pertaining to accessing a laptop, please speak with your Engineering Student Advisor.

Minimum laptop requirements are below.

    • Memory: 8 GB Ram (16 recommended)
    • Storage: 256 GB minimum (SSD is preferred, not required)
    • Warranty: 3 year minimum

    • Memory: 8‐16 GB
    • Storage: 256 GB (SSD is preferred, not required)
    • Warranty: 3 year minimum

  • 100 + Software applications, accessible in EIT labs and remotely via Windows and Linux terminal servers
  • $40 yearly printing quota
  • Lab printers: Urbauer 217, Whitaker 130, Lopata 408 (outside hall of EIT Helpdesk)
The EIT Help Center can assist you with all your technology needs. We also provide access to a laser color
printer and color plotters for your poster printing needs.
