Schaettler honored with special journal issue

Professor Heinz Schaettler was recognized for his contributions to the field of optimal control with a special issue of "Set-Valued and Variational Analysis."

Heinz Schaettler, professor of electrical & systems engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, was honored in a special issue of Set-Valued and Variational Analysis. Schaettler joined the faculty of the McKelvey School of Engineering in 1987; he was promoted to professor in 2015.

Schaettler, as well as his wife, Urszula Ledzewicz, was recognized for his role as a “beacon and a helping hand to many ... in the optimal control community.”
 
Titled “New Horizons in Optimal Control - a Special Tribute to Helmut Maurer, Urszula Ledzewicz and Heinz Schättler,” the issue is the result of the 2017 New Horizons in Optimal Control conference in Portugal and brings together papers on several topics related to optimal control and related fields.
