Washington University in St. Louis graduate Lucy Cheadle is featured in the July 20th issue of Sports Illustrated as part of the Faces in the Crowd section.
The issue first arrives in subscribers' mailboxes starting today, and hits newsstands on Thursday, July 16.
Cheadle is the first WashU student-athlete to be featured in Sports Illustrated since women's golfer Connie Zhou was in the Oct. 23, 2013 issue. Women's soccer player MeghanMarie Fowler-Finn was also in the Nov. 20, 2006, issue.
The most decorated runner in WashU history, Cheadle is a three-time national champion and a 13-time All-American in cross country and track & field. She won back-to-back national titles in the 3,000 steeplechase at the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and also raced to the 5,000 national title at the 2015 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
A three-time Capital One Academic All-America selection, Cheadle was selected as the 2015 Capital One Division III Women's Track & Field/ Cross Country Academic All-America of the Year. She graduated with a 3.80 GPA while majoring in chemical engineering, and is attending the University of Colorado for graduate school.
