Doctoral student honored at IEEE International Symposium

Missael Garcia, a doctoral student in computer engineering, recently won two best-paper awards at the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems conference May 28-31 in Baltimore.

The paper, titled “A 1600 by 1200, 300 mW, 40 fps Multi-Spectral Imager for Near-Infrared Fluorescence Image-Guided Surgery,” was co-written by Garcia, Mohamed Zayed, Kyoung-Mi Park, and Viktor Gruev, former associate professor of computer science at WashU now at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It won the Best Paper Award in the sensory circuits and systems track and the Best Student Paper Award out of about 800 papers.
