Finney to work with Engineering students in Career Center

Jennifer Finney, a School of Engineering alumna, has been named assistant director for Career Development – Engineering in the Washington University Career Center.

Jennifer Finney

Finney, who earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the School of Engineering & Applied Science in 1998, will be the primary contact for Engineering undergraduate and graduate students seeking assistance with career development, job searching, networking, and related services. She has been working part-time in a similar position in the Career Center for nearly 12 years. She succeeds Michael Chapin, who will work with students interested in careers and internships in consulting.

After graduating from WashU, Finney worked for a biomedical startup as an application engineer.

"I know what the job search for engineering is like, I understand what engineers do and I have a lot of connections with people in industry across different disciplines," Finney said.

"We meet with students at any point," she said. "It's never too soon, and it's never too late. You don't have to come into our office with a plan."

To make an appointment with Finney, contact Finney or use the Career Center's online scheduling tool. In addition, Finney will have walk-in hours in Engineering Student Services.
