Kristen Naegle, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, has received a two-year, $200,000 grant from the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center. The Siteman Investment Program Pre-R01 award will fund a project titled “Discovering the Role of Phosphorylation in the Pleckstrin Homology Domain.” With the funding, her lab will test a novel hypothesis that a contributor to cancer may come from the aberrant regulation of protein interactions with lipid membranes, and therefore mislocalization of proteins in the cell. The Siteman Investment Program awards pilot funding to faculty investigators to support pioneering cancer research and to produce data that may lead to external peer-reviewed funding.
