Pathak receives seed grant from Center for Engineering MechanoBiology

Amit Pathak, assistant professor of mechanical engineering & materials science, has received a one-year, $37,500 seed grant from the Center for Engineering MechanoBiology (CEMB) for a project titled “Mechanical memory in collective cell migration through nuclear-cytoskeletal crosstalk.” Recipients of seed grants become faculty scholars in CEMB and are expected to become active participants in center activities.

The CEMB is a multi-institutional Science and Technology Center funded by the National Science Foundation to advance the study of mechanical forces in molecules, cells and tissues in plants and animals. It is a collaboration between Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Pennsylvania as well as researchers from Alabama State University, Boston University, Bryn Mawr College, the University of Texas and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
