The WashU Racing team made strides in improving its team in the Formula SAE Michigan competition May 9-12, moving up eight places from 2017 to finish 61st of 114 teams.

At the event, teams are scored in various categories, including cost, presentation, design, acceleration, endurance and efficiency.

Andrew Beukelman, vice president of WashU Racing, said heavy rain before the team’s car’s events led to slower-than-expected times.
“We hope that with another summer of research and hard work, we will have an even better car than last year and hopefully we can continue moving up the leaderboard,” Beukelman said.
