​Dean's International Fellowship

The Dean's International Fellowship is designed for PhD applicants who will complete undergraduate studies at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) in India or Tsinghua University in China.

Students who apply to our eligible PhD programs before Nov. 10 will be considered for the fellowship, and selected students will receive notification as early as Nov. 30 in addition to a one-time, $5,000 award.

Eligible PhD Programs


  • Full-time undergraduate student at IIT Bombay or Tsinghua University
  • GPA greater than 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or 80 (on a 100 scale)
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for fall 2018 enrollment
  • Applying to an eligible PhD program (listed above)

Financial Details

  • Full tuition waiver
  • Monthly stipend for the duration of the PhD program as long as academic progress is being made
  • One-time $5,000 USD award in the first year of study

Application Timeline

Nov. 10: All PhD applications received prior to this date are automatically considered for Dean’s International Fellowship.

Nov. 30: Applicants will receive application status notification. If the application is approved, the student will be offered Dean’s International Fellowship in addition to admission to the PhD program.

April 15: Applicant offer acceptance deadline.

Note: If an application is not approved for Dean’s International Fellowship, it will be deferred to the regular admission process following the standard admission deadlines in respective programs.
