Studies electromechanical activity of the heart

Research

Anastasia Khokhlova's research is focused on the electromechanical coupling in the heart. Her goal is to understand how pathological conditions and therapeutic molecules affect cardiomyocyte electrophysiological and mechanical activity using experimental approaches and computational modeling.
   

Biography

Khokhlova joined the Silva's Lab at Washington University in St. Louis in November 2023. She earned her PhD degree in biophysics from Moscow State University in 2015. After, she was a research fellow at Okayama University in Japan and at the Institute for Experimental Cardiovascular Medicine in Germany. Then, she worked as a senior scientist at the Institute of Immunology and Physiology in Russia.
   
She received the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Fellowship, Japan-Russia Youth Exchange Fellowship for Young Researchers and the Carl Storm International Diversity Fellowship, etc.
