Biography

Steve W. Bannes is the Director of the Graduate Studies in Construction Management Programs at Washington University in St. Louis. As director, he provides strategic guidance, policy development and departmental leadership. Bannes teaches undergraduate engineering students as well as graduate students in the McKelvey School of Engineering and Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts.

A non-traditional educationist, Bannes brings a full-spectrum of construction industry experience to the classroom. During his career in industry, he was directly responsible for acquiring and/or managing over $800 million of construction work. His over forty years of hands-on experience has endowed him with a builder’s perspective, enabling him to share a unique, unparalleled perspective.

Bannes frequently participates as a consultant as well as, an author, speaker and panelist in seminars, workshops and educational programs, and is active in numerous industry, academic, civic and philanthropic organizations. He is a co-founder and Vice Chairman of the Board of the not for profit Construction Forum StL and the Construction Forum Education Foundation.
