Brent to study transcription factor binding, gene expression

Michael Brent will use a two-year NIH grant to study transcription factor binding and gene expression

Michael Brent, the Henry Edwin Sever Professor of Engineering, has received a two-year, $625,666 grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the complex relationship between transcription factor binding and gene expression. With the funding, he and his lab plan to generate new, comprehensive data sets that are suited to studying the relationship between binding and functional regulation, then use the data sets to quantify the predictive power of the model. The project is expected to produce the first consistent data set that is well suited to study the relationship between transcription factor binding and regulation.
