Matteucci and Neves awarded Elite 90
Undergraduate engineering students Nick Matteucci of the Washington University in St. Louis men's outdoor track and field team and Bernardo Neves of the men's tennis team were the recipient of the Elite 90 Award
Sophomore Nick Matteucci of the Washington University in St. Louis men's outdoor track and field team and sophomore Bernardo Neves of the men's tennis team were the recipient of the Elite 90 Award at their respective national championship banquets.
Matteucci has a 4.0 grade point average while studying chemical engineering. He is the first WashU men's track & field student-athlete in school history to earn the award.
Neves has a 3.99 grade point average while majoring in mechanical engineering and computer science. He is the third WashU men's tennis student-athlete to earn the award joining Isaac Stein (2010) and Tim Noack (2013).
WashU has an NCAA Division III leading 11 selections since the program's inception in 2009-10.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
