Zekun Li, a doctoral student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was recently awarded a student research grant from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). Li will use the award to develop novel computational imaging methods as part of a bigger project to improve cancer treatments.

The SNMMI is among the premier organizations in the field of nuclear medicine and aims to promote the practical application of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. This is the first year the organization has awarded research grants to medical and graduate students.

Li is a member of Abhinav Jha’s lab. Jha, an assistant professor of biomedical engineering, conducts research focusing on the design of medical imaging systems and algorithms.
