Software

In addition to the software available for academic use on the computer labs, Engineering IT has licenses for students and researches to access various pieces of software.

Students may download the following programs at no cost for use on their personal computer.

    Note: Students have free access to Microsoft Office products through Office 365. The McKelvey School of Engineering no longer provides on the hub access. If you are looking for a copy of Microsoft Windows Operating System, you may purchase it from the WashU Campus Store, the Microsoft Store or another retailer.

• Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
  Formerly known as Microsoft Imagine, this subscriptions program has changed to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching. All current Imagine subscriptions have automatically transitioned to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching and have access to the same software tools they have enjoyed with Imagine. 

The following software is available for research use within the McKelvey School of Engineering:

• Abaqus – Offers powerful and complete solutions for both routine and sophisticated engineering problems covering a vast spectrum of industrial applications
• COMSOL Multiphysics – A completely new multiphysics node in the model tree for setting up multiphysics models, including the ability to combine physics interfaces to define your own multiphysics
• Fluent – Offers broad physical modeling capabilities needed to model flow, turbulence, heat transfer, and reactions for industrial applications
• MATLAB (Mathworks) – Includes high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization and programming
• Cadence – Helps engineers design the transistors, standard cells and IP blocks that make up SoCs
• Synopsys – Provides products and services that accelerate innovation in the global electronics market

Engineering Cloud Cluster

This is an open-use Linux cluster preloaded with most of the Engineering school's licensed research software. This system is used for larger computational jobs that can run for multiple days, if necessary. This resource is currently only available to researchers within the McKelvey School of Engineering.
