FAQs

Which McKelvey Engineering programs participate in WUachieve?

The McKelvey School of Engineering uses WUachieve to track progress and certify degrees for all undergraduate students, Master's students, and Sever Professional students. PhD programs have been excluded and WUachieve should not be used for Engineering PhD programs.

How is my GPA calculated in WUachieve?

The GPAs listed in WUachieve for an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree include cumulative, engineering, and major GPA.

  • Your cumulative GPA should mirror what appears in WebSTAC and the calculation includes all courses not intentionally excluded.
  • Your engineering GPA calculation includes all E-courses taken in residence.
  • Your major GPA is informational only and the calculation includes all courses taken as part of your declared program.

The GPA calculation listed for a Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree typically includes only courses counting towards the degree.

Where can I get a listing of courses taken in-residence?

By default, the courses used to calculate residency for undergraduate students are hidden from view. To run a list of these courses, navigate to the "Request an Audit" page and choose "Select a Different Program". Under division "EN" choose program "EN LIST: RESIDN". Enter the appropriate catalog year, and run.

What are ABET requirements?

Several McKelvey undergraduate degrees are ABET accredited. If you are pursuing an accredited program, you will see requirements for (1) Engineering Topics Units and (2) Mathematics and Basic Science Units. More information on ABET can be found at ABET.org. A current listing of Engineering Topics Units available at McKelvey can be found at the Undergraduate Student Services page.

WUachieve displays only the number of units taken/enrolled. To run a list of these courses, navigate to the "Request an Audit" page and choose "Select a Different Program". Under division "EN" choose program "EN LIST: ABET". Enter the appropriate catalog year, and run.

Can a student request an exemption such as a course substitution?

It is expected you will complete your declared programs as outlined in WUachieve. We understand that in rare cases, exceptions may be necessary. WUachieve exceptions are communicated to the registrar staff through the appropriate department channels. If you have an exception request or a question about an exception, please reach out to your adviser.

Can an adviser request an exemption on behalf of a student?

Please discuss all WUachieve exception requests with your advisee prior to submitting. This ensures the exception (if approved) is appropriate for the student/circumstance. As an adviser on behalf of your advisee, please reach out to the appropriate department contact. Exceptions to undergraduate departmental requirements must be approved by the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Exceptions to graduate program requirements must be approved by the appropriate Program Director.
